first_imgCummings had a stellar October as she recorded individual victories in two of her three tournament appearances. The senior shot a 73.1 stroke average and sunk a round low score of 70 on three separate occasions. October Golfer of the Month: Kaity Cummings, Houston Baptist – Sr. – Waco, TexasCummings took two straight individual first-place finishes to start the month, including winning a 3-hole playoff at the Pat Lesser-Harbottle Invitational where the Huskies finished in second place. HBU women’s golf also finished third among team standings at the SHSU Bearkat Women’s Invitational behind Cummings’ first-place finish where she posted a 70 and 73 in two of her three rounds. The Huskies program never finished outside the top 10 and Cummings never placed outside the top 35 for the month. The award marks the first Southland Conference monthly honor of her career in her time with the Huskies. FRISCO, Texas – Houston Baptist’s Kaity Cummings has been tabbed as the Southland Conference Women’s Golfer of the Month for October, the league announced Wednesday.Southland Athletes of the Month are presented by MidSouth Bank. Honorable Mention: Elodie Chapelet, Lamar Southland weekly award winners are nominated and voted upon by each school’s sports information director. Voting for one’s own athlete is not permitted. HIT-AND-RUN VICTIM NAMED: WOMAN’S HEARTACHE AS SHE FINDS HUSBAND’S BODY

first_imgA WOMAN who went to pick up her husband who was on a night out found his body at the side of a Co Donegal road – the victim of a hit-and-run driver.Jo McSherry found husband Alan dead on the roadside just outside Bundoran just after 5am on Sunday.Mr McSherry, who was 48, was walking the two miles from Bundroan to his home in the townland of Boyannagh when he was hit by a car. Gardai found car parts at the scene. It’s thought Mr McSherry had called home for a lift and his wife went to see if she could find him when she saw missed calls on her mobile phone.She found her husband less than a mile from their home.The couple moved to Leitrim from Merseyside around 15 years ago after visiting Bundoran in a camper van.The couple were well-known around Bundoran. Mrs McSherry had worked at the a local adventure centre whilst her husband did part-time maintenance work.
