Australia to London in four hours!

first_imgAustralia to London in just over 4 hours or New York to London in just over 1 hour. That is the possibility from Airbus which has just registered a patent for a supersonic jet capable of traveling at Mach 4.5.Airbus, whose heritage companies built the Concorde which ceased operations in 2003, proposes an aircraft that use three different types of engine that will propel it at twice the speed of Concorde.Superb Concorde anniversary videoYoutube video on Airbus supersonic patentAccording to the patent the “ultra-rapid air vehicle and related method of aerial locomotion,” is a three stage engine process.First the aircraft would take off using turbojets and after take-off these would retracted. Then – and this is not for faint hearted – a single rocket would propel the aircraft vertically to 100,000ft.Once the aircraft reaches that altitude, which is more thna twice as high as where conventional commercial aircraft cruise, two ramjets would be deployed and speed the aircraft to March 4.5 or 3000mph or 5,372km/hr.According to Sputnicknews.com Airbus has beaten the sonic boom because when the aircraft is travelling vertically to its cruise altitude the boom will travel horizontally across the atmosphere, not downward towards the ground.Concorde’s sonic boom was one its major problems as well as the cost which kept it out of the reach of normal travellers.last_img read more

ReadWriteWeb Recommends: Nav App for iOS

first_imgdave copeland 5 Outdoor Activities for Beating Office Burnout Related Posts Motion X is one of the most frequently downloaded GPS apps for iOS, and with good reason: It’s cheap at 99 cents, simple to use, and, in our tests over the past six months in half a dozen U.S. metro areas, accurate. There are some hidden fees (audible, turn-by-turn directions, for example, are free for 300 days, after which you have to subscribe either monthly or annually). Be sure to check out the predictive traffic info to avoid traffic jams. We also liked the Wikipedia button, which was a fun distraction to help us learn about attractions in the immediate area. Like most GPS apps, Motion X had all the basics, including residence and business searches, the ability to bookmark frequently visited places and to easily switch from maps to text directions. Tags:#Reviews#web center_img Get behind the wheel for one last road trip before summer ends. But first check out our pick of GPS apps!If your ride still sports a clunker of a window-mount GPS unit, it’s high time to switch to your smartphone. GPS apps have come a long way in the past few years, and for as little as 99 cents you can tap into the same features that come in a stand-alone navigator costing $150 or more. TomTom is still the Cadillac of GPS apps for iOS, and at $49.99, it is cheaper than that of most fixed units. But there are less-costly apps we looked at that modeled their features on TomTom. You do get perks for that extra money (even before a $19.99 annual fee for HD traffic info), but if you can live without advanced lane guidance and a faster-than-most location system, a cheaper app may be for you.Of which there are several. Google Maps is already preinstalled on many iOS and Android smartphones, and for the Sunday driver who can live without voice guidance, it may be the only GPS direction tool you ever need. Waze — available for not only iOS and Android, but also Windows Mobile and Symbian — is also free and boasts community-sourced traffic tracking (that works better in some cities than others). We also liked the slightly more expensive TeleNav, which sells for 99 cents and comes in versions for iOS, Android, and BlackBerry. But if you’re on iOS, you can do even better. Our Recommendation: Motion X GPS Drive 4 Keys to a Kid-Safe App 9 Books That Make Perfect Gifts for Industry Ex… 12 Unique Gifts for the Hard-to-Shop-for People…last_img read more

How To Make Good Choices in Sales

first_imgThe reason to understand where a buyer is in their process is so you have an orienting generalization, some idea about where they are in the decision-making process. But because decision-making is often a non-linear process, you want a deep understanding of what helps people make good decisions, and you want to forget that you know it, paying attention to what you are seeing and hearing and working to be valuable to them. How could there be a buyer’s journey when there are multiple people with competing interests all at different stages of what looks like a linear process?A sales process is a very similar orienting generalization. It helps you recognize lines that don’t exist, and in doing so, you have some ideas about where you are in the sales conversation and what you might need to do to succeed in winning your dream client’s trust and their business. You want to know where you are without slavishly sticking to the little check boxes that make up your process. You want to present enough to recognize what comes next and be resourceful enough to figure out what might come up that isn’t on the page.Have you ever executed your sales process perfectly only to lose a deal? The perfect execution isn’t a guarantee of success, which is to disparage the sales process but to remind you that selling is a complex, dynamic, human interaction.Methodologies also orient you and offer guidance in interactions with clients and prospects. They can give you a structure for asking questions, mapping stakeholders, asking for commitments, targeting your dream clients, prospecting effectively, and winning more profitable business (among countless other activities). However, a methodology is more like a recipe, providing you with the ability to add more or less of one thing or another to suit your taste—and in this case, what works for you and your prospect.A methodology can help you do things more effectively, and it can also constrain you, sometimes for good, sometimes with poor effect.Developing the ability to work from a higher level of competency requires that you learn how to recognize what you are seeing and hearing and make good choices. It also requires bad choices, which sometimes provide greater learning (no one burns themselves on the stove and then touches fire again just to make sure that was the cause of their pain). The trick to being effective is to study and practice using the orienting generalizations like buyer’s journeys and sales processes until they fade from your conscious thought. Burn them in until you no longer think about what it is you are thinking about. Act because your subconscious mind knows what to do and does so reflexively. Essential Reading! The key is to lead customers through a series of necessary steps designed to prevent a purchase stall.” Buy Nowlast_img read more
