If you are not achieving the results that you want in some area of your life, your beliefs in that area are not serving you.You may say that it is important for you to acquire new clients and earn more money. But if that were really important to you, if you believed it, that would be visible in the actions that you take each day.I Want More MoneyThis past week I met with a group of young people who work in a role where they’re required to help their company maintain the relationships with their clients. This group does exceptionally good work under very difficult circumstances. I asked them what they could do to operationalize the idea of creating new opportunities within those existing clients, and they responded that a new compensation structure would motivate them to take more action in this area.I explained to these young people that money doesn’t motivate very many people. In my experience, around 5% of people are truly motivated by money. I told this group of young people that everyone would love to have more money. If you go to any group of people and ask them if they would like to have more money, universally the answer is “yes!”But that’s the thing about money motivation. The people who are money motivated are already making more money because that’s what they are motivated to do. It doesn’t work the other way around where people are suddenly motivated by the opportunity to make more money. If the people who “want” more money were truly money motivated, their beliefs around money would have them already taking the actions that provide them with more money.Your actions follow your beliefs, your needs, and your values. How to Change Your BeliefsIf you are not achieving the results you want in some area of your life, you have to first change your beliefs. Here is the recipe: Look at people who are already producing the results that you want in some area of your life and work to understand what they believe, what need that believe serves, and what action follows those beliefs. Then, adopt their beliefs as your own. Write down what they believe. Read their beliefs out loud. Start telling other people what you believe. As soon as their beliefs become your beliefs, the actions will follow. The results will come after that.If you profess to believe something, but your actions don’t demonstrate that you believe it, then you don’t believe it. You have an intellectual understanding of the belief, but it isn’t your belief. If your beliefs no longer serve you, change them.

Without up there is no such thing as down. Without winter, no summer. No illness, no health. No poverty, no wealth. No sadness, no happiness. No scarcity, no abundance.Through some miracle, you are here. You have been given this life, your life, to do with what you will. This is the greatest of all gifts and the greatest of all opportunities; one life that belongs to you and you alone, free and clear of any and all obligations. Not an easy life, and not a life without worry, but a life. Through chance, a chance. Your chance.Everything that you are grateful for starts and ends here. Your family. Your friends. Your mentors. All the opportunities, and all of your experiences. You are here, and regardless of your present circumstances, be they good or bad, you have cause to be grateful. You have been given this life. There are things that you wish you did not have to experience in this life, things that cause you discomfort, pain, and suffering. It’s difficult to be grateful for everything that comes into your world, but that doesn’t stop them from doing so. They are, regardless of how they make you feel, part of your life. There has not been a life that did not include these things. These things are all part of the package that is life, and they also belong to you. Without them, you would not know their opposite.Gratitude is a position that you hold. It is more than a feeling and more than words you say. Gratitude is a belief structure and a set of actions you take. If you are grateful for what you have been given, your gratitude is evidenced by your actions, by what you do with your gifts, how you treat them. Gratitude is also visible in how you respond to the things that you’d rather not experience, things that belong to you that you’d prefer not to experience.Today is a day for giving thanks. But tomorrow is also a day to be grateful. Through some miracle, you are here.
The reason to understand where a buyer is in their process is so you have an orienting generalization, some idea about where they are in the decision-making process. But because decision-making is often a non-linear process, you want a deep understanding of what helps people make good decisions, and you want to forget that you know it, paying attention to what you are seeing and hearing and working to be valuable to them. How could there be a buyer’s journey when there are multiple people with competing interests all at different stages of what looks like a linear process?A sales process is a very similar orienting generalization. It helps you recognize lines that don’t exist, and in doing so, you have some ideas about where you are in the sales conversation and what you might need to do to succeed in winning your dream client’s trust and their business. You want to know where you are without slavishly sticking to the little check boxes that make up your process. You want to present enough to recognize what comes next and be resourceful enough to figure out what might come up that isn’t on the page.Have you ever executed your sales process perfectly only to lose a deal? The perfect execution isn’t a guarantee of success, which is to disparage the sales process but to remind you that selling is a complex, dynamic, human interaction.Methodologies also orient you and offer guidance in interactions with clients and prospects. They can give you a structure for asking questions, mapping stakeholders, asking for commitments, targeting your dream clients, prospecting effectively, and winning more profitable business (among countless other activities). However, a methodology is more like a recipe, providing you with the ability to add more or less of one thing or another to suit your taste—and in this case, what works for you and your prospect.A methodology can help you do things more effectively, and it can also constrain you, sometimes for good, sometimes with poor effect.Developing the ability to work from a higher level of competency requires that you learn how to recognize what you are seeing and hearing and make good choices. It also requires bad choices, which sometimes provide greater learning (no one burns themselves on the stove and then touches fire again just to make sure that was the cause of their pain). The trick to being effective is to study and practice using the orienting generalizations like buyer’s journeys and sales processes until they fade from your conscious thought. Burn them in until you no longer think about what it is you are thinking about. Act because your subconscious mind knows what to do and does so reflexively. Essential Reading! After his departure, the Congress is now left with 59 candidates.Soon after arrival, Mr. Singh addressed an election rally at Barjala in support of party candidate Dilip Das. National Conference president and former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Thursday said that if his party is voted to power in the upcoming Assembly elections, “regional autonomy will be granted in J&K within 30 days of his party forming the government”.“A roadmap in this regard has been drawn between 1996 and 2002 and the larger objective of regional autonomy will be politico-economic empowerment of all the regions of the State,” said Dr. Abdullah in Jammu. The National Conference moved a similar resolution on April 13, 1999, and was passed with a voice vote on June 26, 2000. The move triggered a major face-off between Dr. Abdullah’s government and the Centre. The resolution was rejected by Parliament without having any discussion. Dr. Abdullah’s fresh remarks on it came on a day when he welcomed former BJP leader Gagan Bhagat into his party. Mr. Bhagat was ex-MLA of the BJP from R.S. Pura. “A regional autonomy mechanism under overall superintendence of the State government will further strengthen the regional unity, which is imperative for singular entity of J&K,” said Dr. Abdullah.Rally plan foiledMeanwhile, NC workers in Srinagar made an attempt to take out a rally over the killing of seven civilians in security forces firing in Pulwama. However, the police foiled the rally, which was led by NC general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar.
Andy Murray had Centre Court rocking on Sunday, winning gold for the home team and beating Roger Federer 6-2, 6-1, 6-4 in the tennis final at Wimbledon. The result was a royal rout. Murray swept nine consecutive games, breaking Federer’s serve four times in a row.The victory marked a breakthrough for the Scotsman, who has lost all four of his Grand Slam finals, three against Federer. For Federer, the drubbing marked another Olympic disappointment. Playing in the games for the fourth time, he sought a victory to complete a career Golden Slam but still earned his first singles medal. From the start, there was no doubting spectators’ loyalty. The retractable Centre Court roof opened shortly before the final, and Federer walked onto the sun-splashed grass to a standing ovation. Then Murray entered, and the roar tripled. At the far end of the All England Club, thousands of happy fans with grounds passes enjoyed a carnival atmosphere on the picnic hill known as Murray Mount while watching the match on a huge video screen.Federer wore red and Murray blue in the most colorful tournament ever held at Wimbledon. Their tactics were also in sharp contrast.Murray returned aggressively to repeatedly put on Federer on the defensive when serving. Federer tried to come forward more than in any match this summer, but Murray answered with a succession of crisp passing shots for winners. The fans loved it, waving Union Jacks of all sizes. “An-dy! An-dy” they chanted. They applauded when Federer won a point, but they roared when Murray won one.And the bounces seemed to go Murray’s way. One of his service breaks came when he hit winners that clipped the net cord on consecutive points. But then the net, after all, was British. Federer showed little frustration as the match slipped away. Instead, it was Murray tossing his racket in the second set when he made a rare error.Otherwise, the usually dour Scotsman had little to get upset about. When he netted an easy forehand on break point early in the match, he laughed at his mistake.Murray won with plenty of flair and a succession of spectacular shots. A lunging backhand pass in the corner had fans on their feet. And he erased a break point with an acrobatic leaping overhead, followed by an improbable reflex volley winner after Federer fired at him from point-blank range.Murray fell behind 15-40 serving in the opening game but rallied to hold, and from 2-all he took charge, winning every game until 5-0 in the second set.Federer struggled to hold but had his chances to break, including in the third game of the second set. He held six break points but Murray erased them all and won the game on the 20th point on an errant Federer backhand, one of many.advertisement
