The Robert Hasson Community Center has been officially sold in Northport. The council voted to sell the building to barbeque restauranter and businessman Woodrow Washington. Last summer, Washington started renovating the Hasson Center after he got a conditional use agreement from the city. He’s been using the building for community events and outreach through his nonprofit Academics in Motion.“When I learn all about persevere, just maintaining, you know, showing everybody your products,” Washington said. “Showing that you are committed to what you preached on and just getting an opportunity to get out here and help everybody you can when you can.”The city agreed to sell the Hasson Community Center to Washington last year. However, the deal was put on hold because of municipal codes that required a unanimous vote of the council and the mayor.
