Two men arrested in Donegal in connection with murder of David Black

first_img Image: PSNI GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED a man in Donegal in connection with the murder of Tyrone prison officer David Black.Black was shot dead on 1 November 2012.Today, as part of a joint Garda and Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) operation investigating the murder, gardaí from the Special Detective Unit have arrested two men in Co. Donegal this afternoon.A man in his 40s was arrested under a European Arrest Warrant and a second man in his late 50s was detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939. One man is detained at Letterkenny Garda Station and the other at a Garda Station in Dublin.The man in his 40s is due to appear before the High Court in Dublin on foot of a European Arrest warrant tomorrow morning.David Black, a 52-year-old father of two, was driving from his Cookstown home to work at Maghaberry prison at 7.30am on Thursday 1 November 2012 in his black Audi A4 when the incident occurred.He was driving along the M1 motorway between Portadown (Junction 11) and Lurgan (Junction 10) when, one mile from the Oxford Island exit ramp, a a dark blue Toyota Camry car with a Republic of Ireland registration, 94 D 50997, pulled alongside him.A number of shots were fired, fatally injuring Black.
